Week 13
When it comes to video production, I have always enjoyed the editing process more than the actual filming of it. In the lesson videos, they break down the basic steps for editing; since this assignment, we did not have to shoot anything, the first couple of steps, like having multiple takes did not apply to me. However, I did download multiple stills and video clips of similar looks to see which one worked the best for my assignment.
One of the steps was organizing files. When I was doing my storyboards, I did not keep good track of what photos and videos I was going to use or liked the best, so when it came time to put the montage together, I spent a lot of time searching for specific content. My process would have been more efficient if I had stayed more organized from the very beginning. The final step was color correction. Premiere Rush had some options for editing content, and I played around with them to try to give a more consistent look to the footage I had.Making videos is very similar to telling a story; there is an exposition, conflict, climax, and resolution. I had that guide me as I worked on the assignment. I chose "Story of My Life" by One Direction (because it is one of my friend's favorite songs). The song is about being in a relationship and a person giving everything to make the other one happy. That person, though they give everything, their relationships never work out. In my montage video, I showed that there were happy moments in the relationship. In the climax, he decides to leave, and the resolution is him finally letting off all his failed relationships.
